o visit relatives and Jazmin Reyes, his 16-year-old girlfriend whom he had met on the Internet months earlier, the Chicago Tribune reports.Marron's family typically returned to their native town each Christmas, but they couldn't afford to make the trip this year. Marron was able to save enough money, however, from his summer job as a restaurant server, according to the Tribune.Dozens gathered Tuesday night in the suburb of Mount Prospect. They carried candles, flowers and balloons. The Daily Herald reports that the group prayed quietly in Spanish.Marron, a student at Rolling Meadows High School in suburban Chicago, loved spending time with family and "made everyone smile," said friend Joel Muneton."I found out through Facebook, and it was shocking," said Andres Montiel. "I've known him since I was like in first grade. It was just really rough."Fellow students reflected on what the rest of the school year will be like without him. A Facebook page titled "Red in

suggests any additional political fallout will be limited.Several officials including a former Communist Party secretary of the Shanghai Railway Bureau were ordered dismissed from their party posts, a penalty that is likely to end their career advancement. Others received official reprimands but there was no mention of possible criminal charges. The bullet train, based on German and Japanese systems, is one facet of far-reaching government technology ambitions that call for developing a civilian jetliner, a Chinese mobile phone standard and advances in areas from nuclear power to genetics. The bullet train system quickly grew to be the world's biggest but has suffered embarrassing setbacks. After the Wenzhou crash, 54 trains used on the Beijing-to-Shanghai line were recalled for repairs following delays caused by equipment failures.Critics complain authorities have spent too much on high-speed lines while failing to invest enough in expanding cheaper, slower routes

BEIJING A long-awaited government report said design flaws and sloppy management caused a bullet train crash in July that killed 40 people and triggered a public outcry over the high cost and dangers of China's showcase transportation system.A former railway minister was among 54 officials found responsible for the crash, a Cabinet statement said Wednesday. The crash report was highly anticipated by the public. Regulations required the government to release the report by Nov. 20. When that date passed, the government offered little explanation, drawing renewed criticism by state media, which have been unusually skeptical about the handling of the accident and the investigation. The Cabinet statement cited "serious design flaws and major safety risks" and what it said were a string of errors in equipment procurement and management. The report affirmed earlier government statements that a lightning strike caused one bullet train to stall and a sensor failure allowed

Chairman Mark Fahleson said Tuesday. "The Nebraska Republican Party is more focused than ever on electing another conservative Republican to join Sen. Mike Johanns and recapturing the U.S. Senate so that we can reverse the damage done by Ben Nelson, Washington Democrats and the Obama Administration."Nelson upset incumbent Nebraska Gov. Kay Orr in 1990 to earn his first statewide office and was re-elected in 1994 by a landslide. In 1996, he reneged on a campaign pledge that he would not seek higher office while governor and announced his candidacy for the Senate seat vacated by the retiring Sen. Jim Exon.Omaha millionaire businessman Chuck Hagel soundly defeated Nelson in that Senate race, but the two later served as colleagues when Nelson was elected in 2000.Stenberg thanked Nelson for his service, but said Nebraskans need "a genuine, lifelong conservative who is committed to serving his country -- not to personal financial gain."

pulled an episode of So Random from the schedule to evaluate it.This is the tweet the rep was referencing: "We hear you & are pulling both episodes as quickly as possible & reevaluating them... It's NEVER our intention to make light of eating disorders!"Indeed the Disney Channel is not entirely bereft of positive body role models. The character Trish, played by the actress Raini Rodriguezon the show Austin & Ally is not a classic size 2. But Trish is an outlier on television, which experts say features mostly very thin young girls. This controversy goes beyond Disney. The fact that they apologized to Demi Lovato, for possibly making fun of eating disorders, is proof that the media, parents, needs to be very careful in the messages we give to our girls and boys regarding body image, explains Dr. Jeffrey Gardere, an assistant professor at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. The fact is we have become an obsessive and prejudiced society when it comes to body i
