/etc/grub.d/30_os-prober of grub2 provides that feature nowadays, setting status of this feature request to solved therefore.

Would be nice if we could detect other operating systems within grub code in grml2hd like d-i does, see os-prober in d-i code: trunk/packages/arch/i386/grub-installer/grub-installer trunk/packages/os-prober/common.sh trunk/packages/arch/i386/grub-installer/otheros.sh
