The recent kernel vulnerability fix required a reboot anyways...
Successfully booted grml64 2009.05 on an Asus M3A-H/HMDI mainboard.
BIOS version was 0605. Therefore marking this bug as closed.

2009.05 will probably work. However, I cannot easily verify this because all
machines with this motherboard are in use right now. I'll try to slip in a grml
boot test if there is a maintenance window, though.

Note: Corrected motherboard version in title from "H3A-H" to "M3A-H".

Hi Walter,

nowadays we're using kernel 2.6.28-grml[64] so I assume there should be some
updates that might be relevant for you. Do you encounter this problem with
current grml version 2009.05?

I'm marking this bugreport with "needs-progress", if I don't have any feedback
within the next 4 weeks I'll consider closing this bugreport.

Thanks!

OK, thanks for testing and reporting feedback!

AFAICS CentOS 5.2 uses a kernel version 2.6.18, I "hope" it's an
issue of kernel 2.6.23. We are busy working on kernel
2.6.26-grml[64], we hope to be able to provide a grml ISO featuring
that kernel soon.

Sorry, the build server has a broken routing setup so I can't build and upload
the daily ISOs. :-/ Hopefully this is fixed ASAP, I'll let you know as soon as
we have new ISOs available.

No new ISO image at daily.grml.org (checked 64-bit unstable sid).
Are the ISOs built automatically?
msg1398 (view) Author: walter Date: 2008-07-26.11:46:37
Thanks for the reply. I was using the lastest grml64 iso from daily.grml.org.
I'll check tomorrow if there is a new ISO and let you know if it worked.

Thanks for the report, walter. We are working on a new develrelease which will
bring a fresh and updated kernel version. Hopefully your issue will be fixed
then.

Gebi: any further ideas regarding this issue from your side?

Regarding grml64-live: if you built that ISO on your own please rebuild the
ISO, updated udev packages are in the grml repository available. If you are
using a grml64 ISO from daily.grml.org: yes, some of them are broken right now,
a package (opencryptoki) stopped the autobuild daemon from building fixed,
fresh ISOs. I've uploaded a backport to the grml-live repository a few hours
ago and rebuild all ISOs, they should be available within the next few hours.

Update: grml vga=normal noapic nolapic pci=noacpi
of grml64-live drops into busybox after couple of minutes.
There is an error message too:
... /scripts/init-premount/udev: 20: udevtrigger: not found
msg1395 (view) Author: walter Date: 2008-07-26.10:48:58
Hi!

I cannot get grml64 to boot on an Asus H3A-H/HDMI mainboard (with X2-4800+
and 4GB DDR2 ECC memory). Tried grml64 v0.2 and grml64-live (version available
on 2008-07-26).

The boot process halts right after uncompressing initrd with the
following kernel message:

  Booting the kernel.

  Kernel alive
PCI: BIOS Bug: MCFG area at e0000000 is not E820-reserved
  PCI: Not using MMCONFIG

The the boot process hangs.
I've already updated to the lastest BIOS available (v0703).

Google reveals that some other people have this message too, but their
machines just continue to boot so the advice is to ignore that message
about a buggy BIOS...

I've tried various options, like
  grml vga=normal noapic nolapic pci=noacpi
but no luck booting.

Please note that the Netinstall-ISO-Images of OpenSUSE 11.0 and CentOS 5.2
(both x86_64 versions) have no problem booting.

Any hints are appreciated!
