The feature "support persistency feature from live-initramfs" is officially
supported since grml release 2009.05, so closing this bugreport now.

thx && regards,

Alright, I've disabled the 'export NOPERSISTENT="Yes"' of /etc/live.conf by
default now and using the persistent bootoption we are able to play with live-
snapshot & CO of live-initramfs. Doesn't look that bad but we have to work on
documentation and test, test and test the persistency feature before announcing
it officially.

The whole live-initramfs thing is too new for me to be of any help. :-(

I'll try, but no promise. :-)

AFAICS (so I'm not 100% sure, but at least at my last test I
couldn't see anything related to persistency when booting with the
persistent boot option) it's not possible to override the
configuration NOPERSISTENT="Yes" via booting with the persistent
boot parameter - which is something I don't like.

Do you care to investigate on that?
As you might know we have our own git repository for live-initramfs:

  http://git.grml.org/?p=live-initramfs-grml.git;a=summary

It's not a fork of the original but to keep it under our own
control.

yes, please.

Question, although live-initramfs is built with NOPERSISTENT="Yes", is it
possible to overwrite it with the "persistent" boot parameter [1], or
live-initramfs has to be rebuilt?

We should test activating the persistency option in live-initramfs (through
getting rid of 'export NOPERSISTENT="Yes"' in /etc/live.conf).
