Hi Christian,
hm that's bad :) but thanks for testing and reporting! The cryptsetup message
is "usual", though the dirname warning shouldn't be present of course.
regards,

I've now tested this with grml 2008.11 booted from an usb-stick as created with
grml2usb 0.9.2(pre), and I still get the dirname warning. Also, cryptsetup now
complains that it can't find a root device in /etc/fstab (not sure if this is a
new warning or not).

The new grml2usb script shouldn't suffer from this problem anymore:
http://grml.org/grml2usb/
Though I'd like to see it working in reallife before I'll close the bug. :)

Alright, as this seems to be just a cosmetic bug I'd like to defer it for now
because we want to improve the directory layout within grml2usb anyway (see for
example http://bts.grml.org/grml/issue466) post grml 2008.11 This way we don't
break any toolchains by accident but instead improve the overall situation as
soon as the stable release has been published.
thx && regards,
-mika-

verified, it's just an output issue, as the missing directory has a special case
handling in the next line doing the right (tm) thing.

initrd creation is not affected; the created initrd works fine. I'm not sure
about booting off grml-terminalserver directly, as I can't really test this.

but grml-terminalserver can boot clients just fine, right?

grml 2008.11 rc2 (i386) booted from USB media, created with grml2usb (from git,
e5d76fc36d463a20a00153d39e6e9767329718c3).
When running `grml-terminalserver-config initrd`, the following message gets
printed, before the expected messages:
---
dirname: missing operand
Try `dirname --help` for more information.
---
I believe this happens because the invocation of find(1) in the assignment to
MULTIBOOT_PATH_ in /usr/share/grml-terminalserver/default_config generates an
empty result list; because it looks for linux26 in /live/image/boot, but on
grml2usb media linux26 is in /live/image.
