Please checkout http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation/laptops/sony-laptop.txt and see whether setting according values in /sys/devices/platform/sony-laptop/fanspeed (if present) helps. We can't reproduce this issue on any of our systems, so this might be very specific to your hardware. regards, Mika

The system suddenly shuts off after a couple of hours doing some hard work due to overheating (e.g. compiling the kernel in chroot) which is not happening with other distros. I'm using a small laptop powered by amd e-450, and grml32 2012.05, grml-hwinfo is attached
