Thanks for the info and soon-to-come update, recreating the initramfs manually with cpio helped for the moment.

Thanks for reporting! The issue will be fixed with use of initramfs-tools 0.92: http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/i/initramfs-tools/initramfs-tools_0.92/changelog I'll try to provide updated netboot packages in the next few days. regards, -mika-

The netboot package for 1.1 has the e1000e driver not included, whereas booting from CD the driver is included in the linux-image-2.6.23-grml package.
