This issue will be fixed with the next stable release (new develreleases 
available at http://debian.netcologne.de/www.grml.org/devel/). I'm closing this 
bugreport, please feel free to reopen it if you still encounter any problems.

Thanks for the info and soon-to-come update, recreating the initramfs manually
with cpio helped for the moment.

Thanks for reporting! The issue will be fixed with use of initramfs-tools 0.92:

I'll try to provide updated netboot packages in the next few days.

The netboot package for 1.1 has the e1000e driver not included, whereas booting 
from CD the driver is included in the linux-image-2.6.23-grml package.
