I've reworked the locales handling in the current grml-live version. The "file
`/usr/share/locale/locale.alias' not found" problem is fixed, so I'm closing
this bugreport. Please feel free to reopen the bug if you have any problems.

thx && regards,

Thanks for the explanation. A

 ln -s /usr/share/X11/locale/locale.alias /usr/share/locale/locale.alias

fixed my current problem. However, I get some map file not found error:

$ locale-gen
Generating locales (this might take a while)...
  en_US.ISO-8859-1... done
  en_US.UTF-8... done
  zh_CN.GB2312... done
  zh_CN.UTF-8... done
  zh_HK.UTF-8... done
  zh_TW.Big5...character map file `Big5' not found: No such file or directory
 done
Generation complete.

Is there any quick fix for that?

Thanks

Good catch, thanks!

We've to rework the way we handle locales. We need the space on the live-cd and
get rid of all the stuff that's not necessary, on the other side we have to
make sure that all the relevant files are present. I'm open to any suggestions.

grml2hd installation:

when running 'dpkg-reconfigure locales' or locale-gen, I get

 locale alias file `/usr/share/locale/locale.alias' not found: No such
file or directory

for each locale I defined.

The only locale.alias files available, in either grml2hd installation
or live system, are /etc/locale.alias
/usr/share/X11/locale/locale.alias.

Is it misconfiguration or something?

Thanks
