We decided to statically compile the [lib]crc32 module into the kernel to
resolve this issue (at least until we've come up with a more generic solution
in Debian).
See http://git.grml.org/?p=grml-kernel.git;a=commit;h=afd3331 for details.
Closing this issue, if anyone still notices any problems please reopen this
bugreport.

Quoting from FAI mailinglist:
| Ubuntu doesn't copy firmwares files to initrd and fails to load
| libcrc32c if crc32c is not loaded.
|
| Debian doesn't load necessary files in time to permit the driver to load
| firmware and fails to load libcrc32c if crc32c is not loaded.

We should make sure this is fixed on the kernel side (fix DEPENDS), upstream as
well as in Grml.
