Ok, thanks.
1. Does an older grml version work for you? This is the first version I have seen. Searched for others but not obvious.
2. Does adding bootoptions 'noapic nolapic' change anything?
noapic boots; but with pci=nomsi fails because "cd" mount on /dev/sda5.
nolapic doesn't boot with "cd" mount on /dev/loop0; same with pci=nomsi. I don't see the timeout errors for nolapic option with either.
3. Does addding 'verbose debug=vc debug initcall_debug' tell you any
NO
further details (both with and without pci=nomsi)?
without pci=nomsi:
ata1.00 qc timeout (cmd 0xec)
ata1.00 Failed to identify (IO ERROR err_mask = 0x4){all the time
except when using nolapic as stated above}
With "pci=nomsi" anywhere grml mounts /dev/sda5 instead of /dev/sr0 and fails the boot. No sata/ata errors when using the pci=nomsi. Leaving the computer, i.e., ctrl-alt-del /dev/sr0 drawer doesn't open but get the message to remove media and hit enter. Restarts after hitting enter.
Hope this helps.
