Well, other distros might not have CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND enabled, so this might be 
the problem. Get the kernel 2.6.21-grml (2.6.20-grml is the one used at grml 
1.0) from http://dufo.tugraz.at/~prokop/grml-kernel/2.6.21-grml/ and give it a 
try. If that still does *not* fix your issue we can do some further 
investigation.
