Sadly no one cared for more than 2 years. This issue might be reanimated once we rework the boot process, sadly for now I don't see any immediate actions. Marking bugreport as dead therefore.

JFTR: This issue is related to http://bts.grml.org/grml/issue149 and http:// bts.grml.org/grml/issue813 and http://bts.grml.org/grml/issue628 - I'd like to discuss this issue in the next developer meeting/IRC because it needs some rework in core parts of the boot process.

saving and restoring language settings doesn't seem to work with save-config because the GRMLCFG device is used too late in the boot process. Would be great to improve save-config and GRMLCFG cooporation. Thanks to the bugreport to Johannes Kastl. This issue is related to http://bts.grml.org/grml/issue628
