thanks for the explanation. 

I'll close the issue now, since it's a problem with the 'hostname' command, not
grml-chroot itself.

hostname get the name of the running system through uname syscall which does not
change within a chroot.

you have to edit /etc/hostname, /etc/mailname, /etc/hosts and possible
/etc/postfix/main.cf yourself

Hi, 

Both the dnsdomainname or 'hostname --fqdn' return 'Unknown host' in my live
system, so I want to use grml-chroot to fix it before building the squashfs.
However, it seems no matter how I change the etc/hosts file, the hostname
command within grml-chroot always returns the hostname of the host, not the
chroot sub-system. 

Can anyone confirm such behavior?
